Salvage for Rara

S4RARA

The aim is to reduce landfill by making use of most non perishables destined for the bin…. (Yes the new items for sale were heading for the bin too)! If we all become a little more thrifty and a little less wasteful that ethos will seep out of our homes into the local community and spread through out the globe.

Upcycle ♻️

Clothes and furniture can be reborn with a little imagination. Give that unfashionable brown furniture a lick of white paint Instead of taking it to the dump. Repurpose jars and tubs, clothes and furnishings.

Reduce 🚯.

Why add to the landfill crisis… ask friends and family if they have any use for functioning items you have that are destined for the bin. Reuse jars and containers your groceries are packaged in where possible.  For example, get refills for your household spray detergents.

Buying secondhand also contributes to lessening the impact a disposable society has on the environment. Donate to charity, many charities do free collections especially with larger items of furniture. This can be beneficial in assisting you with a clear out, raising funds for a good cause and impacts the local and global entertainment positively.

Repair🪡

Why not look online for tutorials and learn to mend that garment that split at the seem, or pay to get it mended. Depending on where and how you shop it’s often cheaper to pay to mend an item, than it is to buy new.

Reuse 💚

If it’s broken, fix it or sell it for parts. Perhaps dismantle and keep the parts for spares. If it’s new but unused, sell it on, regift it or donate it to a friend, family member or charity shop.  Jars and packaging often gets discarded into the refuse. Plastic bags can be used as binliners, jars and containers can be used for storage. Personally, as well as all the above, I reuse all viable packing I receive via online shopping.
